I will not suggest you to do anything in DR. They are not really very organized and it take time even to get a DR visa but that just my personal opinion. Consult your lawyer..

Its okay to file the 485 at either texas or nebraska. Normally the lawyers file 485 to the same center where your 140 got approved. from.

I am happy to report that the USCIS has approved the P-1B visa application that I filed on behalf of Superman is Dead (http://www.supermanisdead.net/), an Indonesian band, that will be appearing on Warped Tour �09 (http://www.warpedtour.com/warpedtour/index.asp).

I have a offer from an employer and they say that they will be able to provide documentation for GC processing but will not be able to sponsor. What does that mean? Can i hire attorney for my GC processing(EB2) and pay the expenses by myself? What else would be required from the employer?

While there are some politicians genuinely concerned about the subject of immigration who are backing anti-immigration laws because they believe in the cause, there are many more who have jumped on the anti-immigration bandwagon to score political points (John McCain - I'm talking to you). I wonder if politicians in small towns that don't have a lot of fat in their budgets are going to re-evaluate the costs and benefits when they have to explain to constituents why they have to pay hefty fees to plaintiffs in lawsuits like this one in a small town in Nebraska. Hi all,
My I-140 was approved 2.5 years back and I-485 was also approved more than an year back.
But, today the status on my I-140 got changed to "REQUEST FOR INITIAL EVIDENCE SENT, CASE PLACED ON HOLD". I am not sure, why did they reopen the case again. I checked with my company and they assured me that they didn't revoke my I-140.
Could anyone suggest me what's happening to my case. Has anyone seen an similar kind of an issue and wat shd I do further ?

There is no issue what-so-ever using AP to enter US. I don't know why you are mixing H1 with AP. Both are different. AP is just a travel Document that can be used to travel abroad and return to US. Does not matter if you have a H1 or not.

Tours, exhibits and commemorative plaques in the Capitol should recognize the contributions of slaves in constructing Congress' home, experts told a House committee Wednesday.
Such citations would help encourage blacks to make a historical connection to the building, a congressional task force said.
Sarah Jean Davidson, founder of the Association for the Preservation of North Little Rock, Ark., African American History, said blacks and others feel the Capitol and some historic buildings belong more to whites.
"We can say our ancestors helped build the Capitol so when we look at it, it's not 'your building, the majority', it's our building," Davidson said.
"It will be a connection not just for African-Americans, but for immigrants who come from all around the country. ... Once they start feeling connected, then we are one," she said.
Congress created a task force to commemorate slaves' work on the Capitol. Panelists recommended that the history be included in guided tours, educational materials, exhibits, plaques and showcases in the Capitol Visitors Center.
The recommendations were released at a hearing of the House Administration Committee.
"We look back today not to open wounds, but to ensure that we tell the story of those slaves so their toil is never forgotten," said Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga. "We cannot allow our citizens to leave without an appreciation for the efforts of slaves who helped build our 'Temple of Freedom.'"
Financial records of the District of Columbia show that hundreds of local residents received payments for the slaves' work, said William Allen, the architectural historian of the Architect of the Capitol's office.
The ledger recorded the payments as "Negro hire," Allen said.
Many worked in quarries where they extracted the stone for the building. Others provided carpentry skills. Some slaves were stationed in pits from where, with a partner above ground, they would use a whipsaw to saw logs rolled over the pit. Slave women and children were used to mold clay in kilns, Allen said.

Hello everyone, thanks in advance for any reply.
I mailed in my wife's I485 and I130 together (she's from China, and we just got married a month ago), and I just realized that I forgot to include the marriage license with the forms!
Now, what are my options? I noticed that they have not cashed my 2 checks yet, should I cancel them so I at least don't get charged for the forms that will be rejected?
Or, is there any way for me to mail the marriage license separately and hope they get it?
Right now, I think it would be better to just redo the forms, but do I have to wait for the forms to get rejected first?
