People receive emails about info. posted on state chapters. I have asked other chapter leads to post on their chapter boards as well. I am not sure if we have a consolidated, updated and verified list of all the members across all the state chapters to be able to send an email at this time.

I feel that most of the members are not aware at this time. Usually when ever something is happening live at senate or congress, more members visit and follow the proceedings. Since there is nothing like that right now, i think it's time to communicate to all of'em.
Just a thought to increase the momentum. This is a great initiative indeed in this tough economy

Since we are trying to address I-140 delays in general at TSC and NSC, can we just send a general letter to Ombudsman's office without specifying our case and DHS Form 7001 ?
This way it will turn out to be a letter campaign.
What do you think ?
My understanding is if you send a general letter, you will get a general response (standard template) from the Ombudsman's office. For that matter, you don't even have to send the general letter, because I will provide you with the response you can expect to receive from Ombudsman's office without the DHS Form 7001.

All I am trying to emphasize is the DHS Form 7001 is absolutely necessary if you want them to investigate the problem and see for themselves if what we are complaining about is indeed true. You stand a chance that they may take steps to address this problem. If not, it is just waste of time and effort. There is nothing to fear by providing the case details to Ombudsman's office. There are people who have sued USCIS due to the delays and have won their cases....so why fear when all you are doing is requesting USCIS to process our cases in orderly manner.
So please take the time to mail the letter & the completed DHS Form 7001 to the ombudsman's office.

I can understand the excitement. I am also in EB2 2005 PD. But the fact is that, this seems like a temporary movement only...i don't think dates can stay at 2006, going by simple math.
PPl can give me those red marks, but i think dates will retrogress again by Oct.

The prime objective is to attract media attention, in other words "give them something to talk about". What flower campaing did last year was exactly that...Can we achieve the same thing with Book or Calculators or Clock or Poster, we need to figure that out!
I agree that calculator /flower campaign can fail. But poster (actually pamphlet) and letter campaign will cost only 41 cents stamp from us.

Looks like most people are scared because of some kinda assumption that the politicians are determined to screw Indians and so have given the common sense a back seat. When the PERM system came in effect did they force the old labor petitioners to file in the new system? I've never heard of a law/provision that made people file a new and the money and time spent in earlier filing was wasted. It just does not make sense (there will be a class action law suit, if it happens).
So here's what i THINK: As long as immigration is accepting the I-140 petitions and you receive the receipt notice, you are in the old system, meaning your application is still valid and you are in line for GC. They will have to keep the old system running for the applications filed before the new system came if effect. This May 15/May 21, 2007/2008 cut-off date discussion just does not make sense.
It's possible that if your labor got cleared(backlog or PERM) after the new system is in effect, and in the new system there's no need of labor, then your labor will be obsolete (or wasted), but as per the old system concept you haven't lost anything as you can still go for the next step and file I-140 in the new system (although that I-140 may get processed based on new points system).
Looking at some of the ridiculous ammendments that have been added in the bill, i think the chances of this bill being passed are less than 50%, just my feeling.

In many states, it is possible to renew your DL online. Why do you have to go to the actual DMV to renew? I think you should be able to avoid a lot of your troubles by applying online.

Not really h1b is a different track all together. If 485 is denied and the denial is final - person is still free to work till h1b expires thats why lawyers say h1b is safer
This is exactly my lawyer mentioned, AOS deined, you are still good to continue work (and wind up in USA) till your H1(i-94) expires. Hence, it is deemed as "safety". Person gets time to windup before the final bye-bye.

Receipt date is not the date when the application reaches the service center. It is infact the date when your application is entered into their internal system which could be several days after the application has reached the service center.
How sure r u about this?? I think it is the other way around.

OK here is a question.
Person working for past 4 years in the US.
Applied LC this February (2/26/07)
wants to go to canada and then reenter may be next year.
According to the new point based GC system--
1) Will the person get points for the 4 years of work in the US? (those 4 years were continuous, however, the person applies for GC after the canadian break of lets say 1 year)
